The 2nd National Coordinators (NC) Meeting of 2017 was held on 15 June in Beijing, China, with the participation of National Coordinators from Member States, representatives from line ministries, embassies.

The meeting started with review on the Strategic Action Plan for 2017-2020 with integrated comments by member states. NCs approved most of the content, and agreed to have further discussion on several points pending on Russian internal consultation and directions from the Consultative Commission (CC). Members further discussed the Concept Paper on establishment of the GTI Project Office, and Russia agreed to revise this document considering all comments from delegates.

The Russian party agreed to have further internal coordination regarding the establishment of the National Chambers Association after GTI Secretariat briefed the current situation and introduced possible proposals. In addition, NCs unanimously approved the two revised Research Institution Network (RIN) joint project proposals: “Promoting Connectivity in GTI in Physical, Institutional and People-to-People Dimensions” and “Prospect of Greater Tumen Regional Cooperation”. NCs also approved the 2017 budget proposal, reached consensus on solving HR issues, and committed to provide necessary support on the sustainable operation of the GTI Secretariat.

At the end of the meeting, NCs commented on the main CC Meeting Documents. As the host of the coming CC meeting, the Russian party expressed confidence in organizing a successful CC Meeting with joint support from member states.
