The 16th GTI Tourism Board Meeting was held on 10-11 December 2025 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia

The 16th GTI Tourism Board meeting was co-organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, Tourism and Youth of Mongolia and the GTI Secretariat.

The Members of the Tourism Board reviewed the progress of GTI tourism cooperation since the 15th Tourism Board meeting, shared their national progress in tourism sector development, and discussed ongoing and potential cooperation projects with other member states.

In particular, the participants presented the latest progress in the development of Community-Based Tourism in their countries, discussed opportunities, challenges and best practices. Further on, they shared their views on the perspectives of cooperation under GTI to promote Community-Based Tourism.

During the meeting a proposal was presented by a representative from Russia, to organize a Knowledge and Practice Exchange Seminar for the Development of Tourism Products in the Field of Cultural and Historical Heritage of Buddhism in Northeast Asia. This proposal will be further discussed by the members of the GTI Tourism Board.

The Tourism Board meeting was attended by representatives of governments, businesses and other organizations from China, Mongolia, Republic of Korea and Russian Federation.

Before the closure of the meeting, the Board Members discussed and agreed on the work plan for 2025-26.

The chairmanship in the Board was taken over by China to host the 17th GTI Tourism Board meeting in 2026.
