Bridging Northeast Asian Cultures

Mr. Guo Mingfu's painting
2009-04-09 Views: 1785

The ambient went golden glorious under the red rosy cloud,

Stallions dashed from far across the grassland to the near vicinity,

Their mane flew while galloping across the plain,

Eagles glided across the sky in the far while the bows and arrows of heroic riders told us the trail of a legend...

I miss Mongolia, where horses gallop freely on the grasslands, whenever I see Guo Mingfu’s paintings. I have been to many countries around the world and visited many galleries, but I have yet to see an artist like Mingfu, who is able to express fully the history and culture of Mongolia through his outstanding artworks of Mongolian horses. Being a son of the Mongolian Highland, I adore this young talented artist; his artworks are my most valuable collections. The love for horses and the adoration of people who love horses have created resonance between Mingfu and me.

Living on this great plain are the Mongolians whom the artist admires most; many Mongolians heroes in the past were great riders. Their history, poetry and culture touch his heart most. Challenges among the riders on the field were as exciting as multi-color fireworks shooting across the sky that inspired the artist with lots of thought for his paintings.

Mingfu is skillful in meticulous painting using striking colors. Boldness is also one of the key characteristics of his paintings. He likes to use the combination of horses and human characters to reflect the culture and lifestyle at the grasslands, seeking to achieve a poetic and spacious scene through his artworks.

The artist lives in the city, but horses, grasslands and heroes emerge in his dreams and paintings as a result of his everlasting admiration for nature and heroic ideology.

Mingfu is my good friend and I wish all the best for his artworks.
