The 9th GTI Tourism Board Meeting Successfully Held in Arxan

 The 9th GTI Tourism Board Meeting, organized by GTI Secretariat, and co-hosted by China National Tourism Administration and Arxan Municipal Government, was held on 22nd August 2016 in Arxan, China.

 

 

During the meeting, the board members deliberated on the progress in the development of Tourism Sector in each of the countries. The Board members then moved on to the discussion of concrete multilateral projects in GTR. Besides the update on the current status of the Multi-Destination Tourism routes, identified by the relevant MDT Study project in 2013, delegations from China and Russia presented their progress priority projects, such as: Cross-Border Self-Driving Tourism, International Tourism Zone of Tea Road Stations and Touristic Train for Schoolchildren of China.

 

The Russia Federation has invited GTI Tourism Board members to attend the annual Pacific Tourism Forum in Vladivostok 18-21 May 2016.

 

The board members came to a consensus that each member country would continue to support the regional tourism cooperation in Greater Tumen Region by conducting the projects discussed during the meeting. The participants also advised the GTI Secretariat to invite other departments such as the custom bureau, public security bureau to participate in the next Tourism Board meeting, as inter-regional tourism projects need the cooperation among various public sectors besides of the tourism sector.

 

Members of the GTI Tourism Board, representatives from GTI Secretariat, GIZ, Provincial Tourism Bureaus and Travel Agencies of Inner Mongolia, Jilin, Liaoning and Heilongjiang, Arxan Municipal Government, Mongolian Tourism Consulting and Management LLC, Tourist Information Center of Primorsky Territory and Korea Tourism Organization attended the meeting. The 10th Tourism Board Meeting will be held in ROK in 2017.
