2nd Meeting of the GTI Agriculture Committee is held in Vladivostok, Russia

The second Meeting of the GTI Agriculture Committee, co-organized by the GTI Secretariat and the Ministry of Agriculture of Russian Federation, was held on 21 February 2017 in Vladivostok city of Russian Far East. The GTI Agriculture Committee was officially launched in April 2016 in Seoul city, Republic of Korea.

 

The main goal of the 2nd GTI Agriculture Committee Meeting was to review the progress of the newly established Agriculture Committee’s work and to approve the Agriculture Cooperation Strategic Action Plan and 2017 work plan of the Agriculture Committee.

 

Meeting was opened by Mr. Valeriy Sizov -the representative of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russian Federation and Dr. Kang Boosung – the Senior Advisor of the GTI Secretariat.

 

The participants reviewed first the progress of the GTI Agriculture Committee’s work during April 2016-February 2017 and also listened recent developments in the other GTI Sectoral Committees and Affiliated Bodies of concern such as Transport, Trade and Investment and EXIM Banks Association.

 

At the Meeting, the Committee Members also shared the recent developments and planned actions for promoting regional, bi-and tri-lateral cooperation agriculture sector, especially in the areas of private sector cooperation and joint research works on veterinary and agriculture cooperation potentials.

 

The Committee members also reviewed the final draft of the “GTI Agriculture Cooperation Strategic Action Plan for 2016-2020”. Considering the fact that all comments from the member countries were fully reflected in the final document, Committee members unanimously approved the SAP and reiterated need for all members country’s full commitment for the implementation of the SAP.

 

Finally, the participants adopted the Work Plan of GTI Agriculture Committee in 2017 that will primarily focus on identifying joint project toward the implementation of the SAP and promoting agricultural cooperation among the GTI member countries and other stakeholders.
