GTI member countries participated in the XXII PITE (18-20 May) under the “GTI logo”. The project of organization of the GTI’s exposition during the PITE was suggested by the Primorsky Territory during the 10th Tourism Board meeting (August 2017, Republic of Korea). The GTI Tourism Board members approved the proposal and the GTI Secretariat in cooperation with the GTI members undertaken all the necessary preparation to organize a GTI’s stand during the expo. Participants of the GTI’s booth were: the Hunchun Tourism and Promotion Service Bureau (China), Ministry of Environment and Tourism (Mongolia), Korea Tourism Organization (Republic of Korea) and Khasansky Disctrict Administration of Primorsky Territory (Russian Federation)

The project of GTI’s exposition goes in line with one of the strategic directions of work within the GTI’s tourism sector – promotion of GTI’s brand and development of Multi-Destination Tourism (MDT) in the Greater Tumen Region (GTR).

The GTI member countries presented their tour products under the GTI brand thus making another step for promotion of GTR as a single tourism destination and developing MDT tourism in the region.

GTI is planning other activities aimed at building capacity of GTI tourism stakeholders in marketing and promotion of tourism destinations. Thus training on Marketing of Tourism Destinations and Tourism Planning is scheduled to be held as a side event of the GTI NEA Tourism Forum in Hunchun, 3-4 August 2018.

The main objective of the one-day training is to raise awareness and develop/build skills of tourism stakeholders from the GTR to better understand concepts and latest techniques in tourism marketing and promotion, particularly in relation to MDT. It aims to improve the skills in the fields of strategic marketing planning, operational marketing, e-marketing, and evaluation of promotional activities. The main output is a report with recommendations on the development of MDT products for GTI region.

The training will be complemented by a UNWTO’s workshop for tour operators from/doing business in the GTR. With the aim of strengthening their international outreach and networking capacities, the tour operators will be selected according to specific criteria and prepared for their participation at the ITB Berlin travel fair according to a structured and tailored work plan. The initial workshop will be held as another side event of the GTI NEA Tourism Forum in Hunchun. GTI tourism stakeholders are invited to take part in the GTI NEA Tourism Forum and the side events.
