GTI offers outstanding university students an opportunity to acquire practical experience on regional economic cooperation and development in NEA, by interning with the GTI Secretariat in Beijing, China. Every year we recruit about 20 interns worldwide.

 

The Programme provides a compact understanding of GTI’s intergovernmental cooperation process, institutional framework and project activities in a multicultural and international environment. Each intern will be assigned with a mentor and specific tasks in various GTI activities, such as assisting the staffs in project management, organization of intergovernmental meetings and forums, and promotional activities.

 

Currently we have the following vacancy:

 

GTI Secretariat is now seeking for an intern to support in Local Cooperation Committee sector and Event Support. This intern is expected to provide support in related meeting organization, communication with stakeholders, admin support and relevent task implementation. The selection criteria include but are not limited to:

-    Holder of bachelor's degree or above, in a related field such as English, interpreration,  international relations, Ecomonics, public administration, political sciences studies;
-    Possession of interest and knowledge about the Northeast Asia;
-    English and Chinese proficiency in both writing and speaking is essential. Knowledge in Korean, Russian, Mongolian would be an asset;
-    Excellent computer knowledge (skills in Excel will be an asset);
-    Excellent interactive and interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multicultural environment.

Financial Aspects
According to the internal rules, the internship programme operates on a non-remunerative basis. The subsistence and travel costs for participating in the internship programme must be borne by the intern or an external sponsor institution. Interns are responsible for arranging their own travel to Beijing and accommodations there.

Medical Coverage
The GTI Secretariat/ UNDP accept no responsibility for costs or hardships arising from illness or accidents incurred during the internship. Interns must therefore carry adequate and regular medical and life insurance. Proof of medical coverage/visa must be provided before the internship commences.

Internship Duration: 3-6 months from August (can be part-time)

Internship Duration

 

In general, the duration will be at least 3 months, prefer full-time (8 hours/day, 5 days/week).

 

Financial Aspects

Selection Criteria

 

The GTI internship programme is very competitive through a rigorous selection process. The selection criteria include but are not limited to:

 

- Holder of a Bachelor’s degree or above, in a related field such as economics, development, international relations, public administration, political sciences, media and communications or environmental/energy/transport/tourism studies;


- Possession of interest and knowledge about the Northeast Asia;


- English proficiency in both writing and speaking is essential. Knowledge in Chinese, Russian, Korean or Mongolian would be an asset;


- Excellent computer knowledge (especially PPT and graphic design software);


- Excellent interactive and interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multicultural environment.
